Graduates to benefit from IT contractor jobs?

Young IT contractors could soon find that their opportunities for work are on the rise, that is, if they have the required experience for the role.

According to the latest High Fliers' Graduate Market report, graduate vacancies within the IT and telecommunications sector are set to increase by around a third during the course of the year.

However, those with experience are far more likely to receive work. Fortunately, these kinds of placements are becoming more common, with 655 work experience posts offered by businesses during the 2011-12 academic year.

IT contractors with in-demand skills could also find it easier to get work in the current climate, as the number of applications received by the 100 graduate employers surveyed was found to have declined, along with the number of graduates who are able to count computer science as one of their skills.

In fact, those who could list this ability of their CV were down by 20 per cent in number when compared to the previous academic year, making it a good time for those who do have such abilities to get their applications for contractor jobs in quickly.
